Our dojo
MVKD has been part of the Mountain View community since 1972—preserving tradition through rigorous, generous practice.
Since 1972
Mountain View Kendo Dojo was established under Jiro Sakano Sensei (Hanshi 8-dan) and Tadashi Kurasawa Sensei (Renshi 6-dan). Practice began at the Mountain View Buddhist Temple, where it continues today.
Over the years, instruction was led by Kango Kagoshima Sensei and later by Masami Yamaguchi Sensei (Kyoshi 7-dan). Yamaguchi Sensei’s traditional approach continues to shape how MVKD practices and teaches.
